My name is Elke and
I will love your pets while you are away!!

I live in Walnut Creek with my husband, a herd of cats and a Rhodesian Ridgeback (that's him at the beach in Sea Ranch).  I have always had a strong love for cats and dogs and when I am away from mine, I really miss them!  In fact I am known for going out of my way to say "hi" to the pets I meet when we are traveling.  We call it a kitty or doggy "fix."  At least one a day will get me by (smile).

I know how hard it can be to find responsible, reliable, and loving care for your pets when you go away.  I also know the importance of having the peace of mind that someone is in your home taking good care of your babies and knowing that they will get the love and attention they need until we return.  We all tend to worry about our pets when we don't know how they are doing without us!

This was the motivation for starting my own pet sitting business in 2006.  I know what MY expectations are and how I want my animals cared for. Therefore I can put myself in your shoes, since I'm sure your expectations are just as high.  My clients often say "I know this is excessive, but this is what I do . . ."  Not at all!  Every request is honored because it is the routine you've set up for your pets, what they are used to, and what I strive to duplicate in your absence.

Please feel free to call me with any questions you may have about unique situations or pets with special needs.  Although I am not equipped or trained to handle extreme medical cases, I am very versed at giving various medications (including subcutaneous injections and fluids) to your pets.  I have also dealt with a multitude of personalities and behaviors of both cats and dogs and know how to interact with them and how important it is for them to get to know me on their own terms (especially the shy ones!).

I am fully-insured and certified in Pet CPR and First Aid, and have developed various techniques to get a pet to take their medication(s).  I will always want to do a trial run during the consultation, if giving meds in involved, to make sure the pet will allow me to administer their meds.

I offer a complimentary consultation in your home, during which I will meet you, your family, and your pets, and you can get to know me, as well.  You will be impressed with the level of detailed information I gather, (things you may not think to mention), to ensure  I have all pertinent info. about your pets and your home.  If we both feel that this is a good fit, we can go from there. I look forward to meeting you in the near future!
